From Engineering to Glitter: The Story Behind The Joyful Rebel

Back in 2017, in the charming town of Keynsham, nestled between Bath and Bristol, Alexandra swapped her hard hat for glitter and founded Initial Design Crafts—the seedling of what would become The Joyful Rebel.

Armed with a background in Mechanical Engineering and an untameable passion for creative chaos, Alex turned her tiny idea into a thriving brand. What started as a side hustle has grown into a joyful, sparkly haven of handmade birthday t-shirts, Christmas earrings, craft kits, and gifts for anyone who loves quirky, creative treasures.

It All Started With a Sparkle

Originally, the kitchen table was HQ. But as demand for personalised kids birthday t-shirts and design-your-own craft kits grew, so did the operation. Soon the dining room was full of glitter, the hallway was stacked with vinyl, and the cat had completely given up on finding a fur-free nap spot.

Eventually, Alexandra declared war on clutter and carved out a dedicated workshop in the house. This is where the magic now happens—every stitch sewn, every sparkly earring polished, and every birthday badge lovingly assembled by hand.

Whether he’s lounging on his sunny window ledge or supervising the Christmas jewellery production line from a high perch, Batfink brings calm to the chaos.
