Easter Half Term Ideas 2025: Dyrham Park Easter Trail

Easter Half Term Ideas 2025: Dyrham Park Easter Trail

Looking for Easter activities around the Bristol and Bath Area?

We are big fans of the National Trust in our house, and Easter trails have become a bit of a tradition. If you’re looking for something fun to do over Easter half term 2025, I can’t recommend the Dyrham Park Easter Trail enough. We’ve done it several times over the years, and it always makes for a brilliant day out – full of fresh air, chocolate, and lots of running about!

Easter Trail at National Trust, Dyrham Park

Once you’ve got your National Trust membership, it really does work out as a fairly cheap family outing. The Easter trail costs just £3.50 per participant, and for that you get a lovely themed trail sheet, a fun pair of cardboard bunny ears, and the all-important chocolate egg at the end (or a vegan option if you prefer). It’s such good value, especially when you’ve got a few kids to entertain.

The trail is spread across the beautiful Dyrham Park site, with plenty of space to explore. Along the way, there are riddles to solve, clues to hunt down, and silly activities to try. Our favourite was the egg and spoon race – it got very competitive!

What You Need to Know About This Easter Half-Term Activity?

If you’ve not been before, here are a few useful tips to make your visit easier:

  • Toilets are located at the car park, the play barn, and near the house.
  • The site is quite steep, with the main house and cafe at the bottom of the hill. There is a shuttle bus that runs up and down, but it can get busy during peak times.
  • There’s a play barn with indoor space and a fantastic outdoor play area – great for letting the kids burn off some energy after the trail.
  • There are two places to grab refreshments: a main café down by the house, and a smaller café in the play barn.
  • Not suitable for Scooters.
  • Gravel path suitable for buggies but bumpy.
  • Top tip: it can get very windy at the top of the hill and boiling hot at the bottom on sunny days – so bring layers!

You can also visit inside the house, but I have to admit, we’ve never actually made it in (oops!). We’re usually too busy enjoying the trail and having fun outdoors.

Kids' Review of Dyrham Park:

I asked my kids what they thought, and here’s the verdict:

“The Easter trail was really fun. I liked the monkey bars near the play area, getting an ice cream, and doing the egg and spoon race. And I got a chocolate egg at the end!”

It’s those little moments that make days like this so special. Whether it’s scrambling up hills, laughing during silly races, or flopping down on the grass with a snack and a view – it all adds up to a perfect Easter memory.
